Trip to Sarasota Gardens

Todays adventure started bright and early, heading towards Sarasota. The plan for the day was to visit the Sarasota Jungle Gardens and then the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens is a wonderful family friendly attraction! The overgrown foliage offers a different feel when walking around the property. Sprinkled throughout are animal enclosures with easy to read signage. We even walked alongside flamingos and peacocks.

My boyfriend and I bought some animal feed for the flamingos, alligators, and petting zoo, plus the alligator encounter! He was most excited to hold the baby gator. After a busy last couple of weeks, it was really nice to get outside and see some really cool plants and animals!

Just miles apart lie two vastly different gardens

I enjoyed the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens much more than the first stop. It’s a more traditional botanical garden with tons of varieties of flowers, palms, and other plants. The map helped with navigation, but the main path is a circle so easy to see everything including the bay. Interspersed among the foliage were statues, signage, and a very realxing waterfall. We got to see orchids and the bonsai trees on display while visiting.

I had so much fun stopping and taking photos of the vibrant blooms, while my boyfriend wanted to climb every tree in sight. Our day was filled with sun and laughter! In the middle of the main path is an open grassy space with some benches and a few gazebos. Would have been a perfect place for a picnic if it hadn’t felt like a 100 degrees outside!

When I walked into the gardens I immediately spotted some very vibrant water lilies I knew I had to go back and see. So on the way out I was able to capture some awesome shots as it started to sprinkle! These take my breath away and I feel really capture the beauty of the day! I hope you can find some peace and enjoy getting outdoors. The world is truly a remarkable place. Thanks so much for joining this far and see you on the next adventure!
