I got a new tattoo at Rise Above in Orlando! While my husband was getting his very first tattoo, I saw this frog on the wall . It was a flash option by the very same artist, and oh my word were his lines incredible! Over the last however amount of time, I’ve been more interested in frogs, but I think deep down I’ve always found them cute. I remember as a kid getting excited to find a toad or frog in the yard. Anytime I see a tree frog at a zoo, I always get excited too. There’s just something so cool and interesting about the little amphibians.

The day of my tattoo appointment, I was feeling a bit nervous because it felt like I was making an impulsive decision. I couldn’t really think of why I wanted the tattoo other than I just liked it and that wasn’t good enough in my eyes. All my other tattoos felt special or more meaningful. My first tattoo was a reward for working at Universal Orlando for a second summer. My ghost was a with a friend and commemmorates working as a scare actor at Six Flags New England and my love of Halloween. The dagger I got was during an romantsy book convention and discovering myself as single again.

What I learned after talking to my husband was that getting this tattoo was special to me and that’s what was most important. Going deeper into its symbolism, frogs go through metamorphosis which is an incredible biological journey. Spritually we can move through major changes in life with ease, flexing our adaptability and resilience. Ancient Egyptions even believed frogs to represent fertility, creation, and regeneration[1].

Understanding how others think about frogs, really makes me pause and reflect. For the last few years, I’ve changed a lot. Through self determination, I prioritized healing and accepting myself. I rediscovered what I love and who I choose to spend my time with so that I feel loved and appreciated. I’ve been challenged in more ways than I thought possible, which has stengthened my resolve to keep going. To keep getting up when life knocks me down. I think this new frog tattoo is a perfect reminder of everything I’ve overcome and everything I know will covercome. It’s a reminder of my love of art. It’s a reminder of my love of nature. I even picked colors that remind me of one of the toads from Naruto (if you’re a nerd like me)!
