I got married! Recalling the details and emotions from the day is hard because it honestly went by in a whoosh, but I’m going to do my best now that we have our professional photos to help chronicle the day.
Wow, it’s unreal that another year has come and gone in the blink of an eye. A brand new chapter is starting for my husband and me. The day was perfect, from the weather, to the guests, down to the DJ, we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding. We’re beyond grateful and truly blessed to have shared this milestone with our closest friends and family. For 6 hours we smiled, laughed, danced, and celebrated love.

Dolling myself up and getting into my satin dress felt like a dream. It was a surreal experience that no one can really prepare you for. It was so wonderful to have my friends around and my mother to help with the final details, like my shoes. A huge shoutout to our amazing photographer, Vinnie, with Patken Photographer. He managed to get some first glimpses of my husband and his groomsmen before our first look.

To make our day extra special, we planned for sharing private vows in the conservatory at the venue before the first look. I instantly loved this sun room space and envisioned the bright and teary eyed first look with each other. My husband was crying during his entire speech, which was written and spoken with so much love. The feeling of Erik behind me, handling my hand, it something I’ll never forget. The anticipation for him to finally see me and embrace me built throughout both of our vows. As soon as we turned around, he held me tightly. I wanted him to look at me and my dress so I broke the hug and had him twirl me around before embracing me once again.

The rest of the photos were taken in the garden as guests were arriving. My favorite moment was when I discovered a path lined with daffodils. Daffodils are my favorite flower. Gorowing up, I always got excited seeing them pop up in my grandma’s yard and my home. The bright yellow makes me smile and just fills me with joy.

With a blue sky and sunshine, the ceremony came and went swiftly. We utilized a family friend to officiate the wedding. He did a wonderful job reading warm wishes and scripture before speaking the Catholic vows we selected. Erik was so eager to say “I do” I had to whisper to him to wait. Then we exchanged rings and the final kiss. As we walked out, Erik stopped to dip me with another passionate kiss.

It was finally time to dance, but not before the amazing introductions. Our grandparents and parents walked into the manor room to none other than “Money Money Money” by Abba and by the pictures alone, I think we selected the perfect song for all of them.

Our wedding party danced out to “Bring Em Out” by T.I. before we made our first appearance as Mr and Mrs Jacobsen. The moment was beautiful and surreal. We chose to enter to “Setting the World on Fire” by Kenny Chesney and P!nk. This was the first moment to soak up the room and we ended up dancing while everyone cheered. We didn’t know what else to do for an introduction. Finally our first dance song started to play, “On Purpose” by Ni/Co, and we stayed close dancing. It was an emotional moment and I couldn’t stop smiling. After about a minute the DJ invuted all our guests to dance with us and I think that was the most beautiful moment of the night. Gazing around the room to see our friends and family, I was overcome with so much happiness and gratitude. It’s a moment I hope to never forget.

Our wedding felt so special. It wan’t elaborate or filled with miscellaneous fluff. Everything we chose and designed felt genuine to who we are as people and a couple. I loved how everything came together for the day off and working with the vendors provided a seamless process. I couldn’t have done it with out my parents as well. My mother was with me every step of the way and asked the right questions to help iron out all the last minute details. Additionally the love and supprt from my husband’s parents was also much appreciated. Looking back on the day, it was truly a perfect day for us.
